About Me

Having always enjoyed creative interests and an appreciation of the arts, stretching back to school life, my journey towards becoming an artist experienced an unexpected acceleration several years ago when my father passed away.

On managing his affairs, I became aware he was quietly spending time developing as a watercolourist. It transpired this was an activity he had chosen to keep as his own little secret, although clearly mum was in on it. My sisters and I were inevitably astonished, and delighted, to learn of this latent talent.

I’m proud to include here my personal favourite example of his work.

Conversations ensued and cemented my decision to gravitate towards a future life at my own easels, but only once other important professional and personal commitments were satisfied.

Now, years later, I have been able to build on the ambition of developing my own studio, and creation of a modest gallery to display a selection of my early and more recent work. This is not a commercial retail space, but private viewings can be arranged, by appointment.

To conclude this personal story; on the day he passed we were amazed to see a rainbow form directly above St. Luke’s Hospice, one end of which seemingly touching the roof directly over where we knew he lay. We have photos to remind us. That image has remained with the family since, and naturally each time we see one we think of our father…. perhaps he on that day was the gold at the end of the rainbow.

In homage to him, and that incredible natural phenomenon, I wanted to create a truly personal piece and gift it within the family.

So, after much reflective deliberation, I crafted an abstraction incorporating the colours of the rainbow, in my preferred medium of oils. This is now homed in Shropshire and is an uplifting piece in memory of our late father.
