One of a limited series of six. Abstraction is a unique art form in itself. Taking something recognisable and stretching it within the imagination to deliver a plausible alternative. My inspiration came from the amazing pictures returned by the Hubble Space Telescope. Nebulae are giant clouds of dust and gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, and come from the gas and dust thrown out by the explosion of a dying star. Other nebulae are regions where new stars are beginning to form. Available individually, or grouped as companion pieces, the series was created by the motion of polishing paint into the canvas boards with a painting knife, and subsequent brush work to build on various layers of glazing, creating depth and tonal shifts in hue. Each of the series incorporates textured highlights, impasto thoughtfully applied with the aforementioned trusty painting knife.
Framed, and ready to hang.
