Optimism with the ever-present danger of changing conditions. This piece is my abstraction of a flotilla of sail boats steadying themselves for the race to come. A confusion of masts and sails sitting above the obviously calm sea, highly contrasted by the intensity of the looming and foreboding storm. For me personally, at the time of creating the piece, a disquieting metaphor for life. This piece incorporates heavy impasto, to vary the textures. Sub-note: I navigated my choppy waters and sailed through successfully.
