Chasing Light

This piece was a free-form exercise in find light, following it from a source point and watching it break. Not constrained by tight brushwork, it was created using only a painting knife (often referred to as a palette knife). I found the light had more punch/strength due to the fact I started with a dark canvas board. Preparing the board with black gesso in advance was a revelation to me, and a practice I will consider using again in future work.
Framed, and ready to hang.
